{Sunday Photograph - 124}

Today in church Ella got up and bore her testimony.  You never know what she's going to say, which was the case today.  She got up and announced to everyone that we will be moving this Summer and attending a new church.  She went on to say that it gives her comfort to know that even though it will be a new church, everything about it will be the same. least she made it so we don't have to tell everyone individually.

Yes, we will be moving to Utah this Summer.  Bret has always had the goal to buy his own practice and this opportunity to do just that has been on the table for the last 3 years or so.  We felt that it was finally time to make the move before the kids got older, making it a more difficult move for them.

Telling the kids was difficult.  Ella gasped and immediately started crying.  Mailee cheered, until she figured out that it was move and not a visit, and then she looked right at me, eyes wide, face serious and said "I'm totally freaking out!", and Jonas...he just asked for another slice of pizza.

I have shed my own tears thinking about this move.  Though I know it's the right one I will miss living here in sunny Southern California.  The beach, the monthly Disneyland trips, the weather, our home, our backyard, our friends...just to name a few.

I am hoping it's a quick and relatively painless transition for the kids.  Being near family and friends will help with that I'm sure.

These next few months will be busy and at times, stressful.  Selling the house (keeping it clean for interested buyers), packing and finding a place to live in Utah will be an adventure.  If you know of any homes for sale or rent in the Draper or South Jordan area let me know!

Happy Sunday!

p.s.This past Wednesday I celebrated my 33rd birthday.  It was a very chill and relaxing day...just what I needed after my birthday weekend in Vegas.  I have really loved my 30's and shared some of my thoughts on Facebook and Instagram the day of my birthday, but wanted to be sure and make record of it here since this is our family journal and gets printed.

"Today I am 33...and I embrace it! I finally feel as though I know myself. Not the self that others define and build expectations, but a self that is flawed. One who genuinely doesn't care if others expectations are met, who accepts the faults and flaws and rejoices in the fact that we are all here to learn...and how can one learn without making mistakes? Taking chances? Hitting bottom and building back up? I'll be me and you be you and let's just be there to help each other along the way. Not tear each other down to build our own ego. Not cast judgment when we have no right. It's taken me 33 years to finally begin to understand who I am, how to love and how to be happy. Here's to 33!"

Hooray! I live in Draper and love it. And not to be a total internet creeper, but we just adopted a dog in January and I've thought on several occasions that I wished I could take him to Bret. I realize I don't actually know you guys, but I feel like I might kinda sorta know Bret a little more than any other vet, so there's a little more trust already there.

Congrats! How exciting to be close to family again! Now you will just have to take monthly trips to visit Cali instead of the other way around. Good luck with everything!

Happy Birthday Erica! I am glad you had a nice day.

Congrats to Brett, all his hard work is paying off.

Having family closer will have its own rewards. I wish you a swift and trouble free move.

I cant wait to see if your new house, and the new practice. I cant wait to see the kids holding new puppies in Utah! Good luck!

p.s. I think it is super sweet that Ella said all of that, it shows that she has thought about it and digested what you have said.

p.p.s. I love the girls dresses look at his cute shoes. Your sure do take a pretty picture Erica!

I live in West Jordan, so if you move to South Jordan maybe I will run into you, which would be cool
