{Sunday Photograph - 79}

 This morning, as I was gathering the last of the things needed for our 3 hour church block, I heard the kids in the playroom doing what they do a lot lately...putting on a concert.

I stood, hidden from their view, listening to them belt out words to some Barbie movie. Jonas' attempts to echo them sounded more like grunts and his pounding feet to keep the beat resulted in a few toes being stepped on.

I grabbed my camera and snapped a few pictures before they saw me and did their whole "I'm-shy-but-not-really" bit they often do.

Mailee requested I join in and channel my inner rock star.  All three Littles were pleased when they saw me stand on top of the wooden slide and in what little voice I have, (Laryngitis takes forever to get over!), belted out a little "It's Time" by Imagine Dragons.

Who knew I would be deemed "super rad" by the girls and given one of Jonas' famous juicy kisses by simply participating in their concert...sounding like a wounded cow and all?!

It hit me that I need to relish in this moment where my children think I am awesome.  Already I am seeing short bursts of defiance from Ella and soon I know, her perspective of me will be warped with tween will power and the awkward stage of growing into oneself.

I will do what I can to let them see that though I am not perfect and far from awesome, I will always have their best interest in mind.  Whether that means belting it out like a rock star, or being labeled as "mean" or "unfair" later on.

But for now...I'll take being a rock star.

You ARE a rock star! They will have fond memories of you and the amazing ways you show how much you love them.

Of course, they will probably have memories where they think you were off your rocker. That is the way of kids.
