{A delicious revision}

One of my most popular posts on Pinterest of late has been the Snicker's salad recipe I posted a while back.

I made this a few weeks ago for a get together with friends and have found that by adding one more ingredient it hold everything together and adds just the right amount of creamy goodness to the whole dish.

The updated recipe calls for instant vanilla pudding to be added and boy does it make a difference!SNICKER SALAD
(tastes like a yummy carmel apple with nuts and chocolate)

Ingredients:
Cool whip
one package of instant vanilla pudding (small box)
one cup of milk
Snickers (frozen or cold - easier to chop)
green apples (tart, with a little sweet and lots of juicy)

1.Add instant pudding into mixing bowl and pour in 1 Cup cold milk. Mix well and let chill while chopping candy.

2.Chop Snickers bars into bite size pieces (I usually use about 2 bags of mini sickers or more - I like A LOT or about 10-15 king size). I have added Milky way bars and Rolos in with the Snickers before or you can omit the Snickers and just add Rolos and Milky Way bars if there is a peanut allergy.

3.Chop green apples into bite sized pieces (I use about 8-10)

4.Fold in one 8 ounce container of Cool Whip (or more if you think it needs more. I usually buy the 16 ounce container just in case) into the pudding.

5.Combine candy and apples in bowl with pudding mixture.

6. ENJOY!! Be sure and control yourself or you might just eat the whole bowl yourself!

I love snickers salad! We always had it at the banquets at the BYU-I EFY sessions and would get so excited about it :) I don't think I've had it since those sessions forever ago. I just might have to make this sometime for old times sake. How fun! Thanks for sharing!

Shar called me like two days after you posted this and said, "im craving snickers salad...." and I was all, "you must have read erica's blog!"

We make it with vanilla yogurt. Put the instant pudding packet into the yogurt (makes it much thicker) and then add just a little milk, depending on what consistency you want it. Works great with the apples and snickers. Also good with a bit of cinnamon sprinkled in it!

TIP: If you freeze the snicker bars you can just hit them with a hammer...it is much faster than chopping them. :)

Question: will the apples turn brown?

Anonymous said...

I like using white chocolate pudding instead of vanilla.

My family has been making this for years! Most people don't know to use vanilla pudding which has always made it better than the just cool whip version. However, we have never used milk in our recipe, might have to try that.

You need to fold the apples into the creamy mix right after cutting them to prevent them from browning! Weird I know, but some how that keeps them from turning.

I make it with a jar of marshmallow cream mixed with a package of cream cheese and garnish with whipped cream and pretzels.

I actually dip my apples in Sprite to keep them from turning brown. :)

I don't know what to say. All of my prayers for a dessert salad have been answered! Lol. But seriously, as a huge salad lover (even though I know this isn't very healthy) this is the perfect dessert for me! Thanks for sharing, I will definitely be using this recipe and revisiting your blog again. Thank you!

This sounds amazing! I am going to try making it for a party on Friday. Any tips for my first time? Also, how long does it keep?

I've seen this salad before. Instead of vanilla pudding, use butterscotch! It give it a beautiful caramel flavor. Totally amazing!

That is some good stuff right there. I am taking it for a luncheon at work tomorrow, so I sampled it. I had to make myself stop so there would be some left to take!

We've made this for years! We take to church luncheons & people think its potato salad because we use the French vanilla pudding so its ubber creamy and a beautiful pale yellow & never ever place it on the dessert table or its gone if its with the salads people think nah another salad so that way at least you get a spoonful before its discovered! Enjoyable

Cool whip is an instant version of sweetened whip cream. You buy it in the frozen section of the grocery store and thaw it in the refrigerator. don't know if it's available in Australia. :)

This looks super super yummy.
Instead of chopping up milky ways or snickers for this recipe you can use the bites version of the candy bar.

Theres a coupon for them here:
