Hair

I love long hair. My girls love their long hair as well. But it was time...you know it's time for a cut when it takes forever to brush it out and their ends are dry and stringy. For a while now I've wanted to have Mailee's hair cut short. It just seems to fit her little (big) personality.

I am in love with her new look. She is too. She's very pleased that she looks even more like a Rockstar (a new phase we're in).I have a friend (shout out to Carrie!) who can do anything with her hair and still look amazing. I'm confident that if I were to cut my hair I'd look like a mushroom. Round faces just can't make a short cut work. I've been there, done that and wow...never again.

Are you one of those that can chop their hair off? Am I just not brave enough to take the plunge? I admit having long thick hair gets old fast when trying to dry it and oh the headaches you get when it's up in a ponytail for long periods of time!

I have hair envy for those who can do drastic things to their hair and look fabulous. However, when that envy comes in I remind myself that I don't have to wash my hair more than once a week and when curled it looks good for at least 4 days or when straightened I could go for a week with out it looking (or smelling) dirty. Perhaps we all have hair envy for different reasons?

What do you love and hate about your hair?

I have cut my hair short twice, 1st time, after I had such bad chicken pox that I wouldnt let anyone touch me or my hair. (pox in my hair and my throat...?) that I had to have my hair cut, as the knots were to much and dreadlocky that the hair dresser said it was the only way to go.

then I cut it again when I was about 15. it went frizzy and I couldnt style it. so I let it grow.

It get trimmed etc. It needs cutting right now but my fav hairdresser is on maternity leave...

Could totally relate. People always say how "lucky" I am to have such thick hair. And while I am grateful there are defianant down sides like you mentioned...the mushroom head look (oh so very bad), hair headaches, the time to blow dry & flat iron, etc. But like you said the perks are handy, like you, I pull off days with out washing my hair. It's awesome! I have done a shorter Jenny McCarty-ish bob once and loved it. Just had to make sure I did a really good job flat ironing. But overall is stick to medium lenght. Short enough to blow dryer a little quicker and less headaches, but long enough to pull back.

She is so darling either way.

I have thick hair like yours but I am lucky in that I can wear it short if I want to. However, when I cut off 15 inches after the Nub was born and then butchered it even shorter a few months after that, I am never doing that again.

Paul prefers me with long hair, and you know what? So do I. I am on a mission now, hair sitting here I come!

I do have hair envy also as in I wish I could cut mine off on occasion. However I do love being able to jump in the shower and wash condition and gel and be out the door. Love all my natural curl but there are days I wish I could chop it off and not look like orphan Annie.

Your Mailee's hair is so beautiful! Long or short.

P.S. I only wash my hair 2 times a week! It is the nature of the beast it is.

I go forever without a wash (I rock at being gross), and my hair holds a curl for days. But how long it stays straight depends on the humidity. Sometimes I can get a 2nd day, but I have to re-straighten for at least 10mintues.)
I can totally chop off my hair, and I usually do go really really short once every year and a half. But now i've been growing it out for so long that I'm getting attached. It's at that awful stuck on the shoulders length and it seems to not be getting any longer. I'm going crazy and want to chop it, but I hate to waste all those months of hard work/patience! I need to just cut it, and accept that my hair doesn't get longer. It gets bigger.

I totally envy your lengthy locks!

I love the new haircut, it makes her look so grown up!

I like that my hair usually looks shiny and healthy. I don't like that I must wash it every day, and if I'm lucky, it will hold curls for a few hours.
