{Year of the Rabbit}

Saturday we headed down to L.A.'s Chinatown to watch the Golden Dragon parade. I really enjoy teaching my kids about their culture, actually cultures in general, but it's a big plus if the cultural event has something to do with their ethnicity and heritage.

Things to remember from that day:
+So glad I don't live in L.A.
+Asian people LOVE my kids. I stopped counting how many of them asked to take pictures of our kids and hold Jonas. One lady grabbed Jonas from Bret's hands.
+Asian people age extremely well. It made me very happy I am 1/4 Chinese.
+Beautiful, vibrant colors everywhere you looked.
+Getting some new pets in the Grover household (this deserves it's own post)
+Dim Sum and BBQ pork rolls.
+tan lines in February
+strings and strings of red firecrackers going off
+ 2 1/2 hour parade
=

You know I just had to capture the little ninja mullet/rat tail...

Seeing these makes me really miss living in Southern California. I miss the cultural diversity so much. I miss all the opportunities for my children to see how other people do things.

And I always loved people loving my children. It never bothered me to let people hold my babies. I have little blondies and some many mamacitas wanted to touch their little heads.

If you have now experienced Chinatown, next you need to check out the clothing district. Talk to Anna Marie. And you also need to experience the LA Temple. It is beautiful and enormous. Go with your husband and then hit up Apple Pan for dinner.

Dang it. I miss my California. Counting down until my next visit in a few weeks.

White ninja with a mullet?! So wrong on so many different levels. :)

Looks like an awesome family outing! I love it when Asian people stare at my kids with a perplexed look on their face, then look back at me.

If someone snatches Jonas out of my hands when I finally get to hold him, I will punch them. Nuff said.

Oh my. That ninja mullet. It's amazing.

It looks like an absolutely wonderful day! I love Mailee sleeping in the lawn chair and that all of the ladies tried to snatch, and did, mister Jonas. How could you resist that little man? I totally understand :)
