{No. 122}

I've been loving the Nautical inspired clothes that have been in stores through the Summer and happy to see that it's still being embraced for Fall. This Mariner shirt I wouldn't mind adding to my Fall wardrobe. The buttons and the sleeve length both caught my eye, and the color selection is great too (something different than the blue and white is nice).I've been wearing my Nixon watch lately and have been reminded how much I enjoy a nice watch. It's still one of my favorites and I am always asked where I got it (thanks McVet!). I favor a watch over checking my cell phone for the time that's for sure. Are you are watch wearer?I love Saltkin candles. The yummy scents they have out right now make my house smell so good. However, we're experiencing a bit of a warm (more like super hot) streak in the weather right now and for some reason my pumpkin candle just doesn't smell the same when it's 100 degrees outside. Still, a yummy pumpkin spice candle is a must during the Fall don't you think?Dark navy, ties, heel, all three things make this shoe a must for me. How awesome is this shoe? I'm really thinking about the navy but I know the dark brown for me would be more practical. Could you wear dark navy with black or brown?I know my girls would love to frost a garden gnome or mushroom. I think the acorn and hedgehog are pretty cute as well.Perfect cookie cutters for this time of year. Love it!I'm drawn to green. I suppose it's my favorite color...if I had to pick just one. This necklace I could probably wear with 80% of my wardrobe. Green goes with almost anything right? Add this to my ever growing Christmas list ok Mister?Now for what I really want to talk about...MOCKINGJAY. Did you read it? Did you like it?

I was disappointed. It lacked something the other two books had. I was bored with the paragraphs used to describe the graphic details of toes and fingers being cut off or other torture methods. I was also growing bored with Katniss.

What did you think?

Yeah I kinda feel the same way, although I did enjoy reading it (anything will be a nursing book these days) there was definitely something missing. It's like the plot wasn't completely developed or something. What was there like 2 chapters where Katniss wasn't drugged up??

Just got a couple nautical-esque shirts myself (although I'm yet again worried about the fact that they are showing a puffier shoulder. I'm telling you, shoulder pads are on the runways!!!!)

Totally there with you on Mockingjay. It was almost as if all the romantic angst that was in the first two was replaced with tourture and war. Two things I could care less about. I wanted more Peeta/Katniss/Gale and less bomb explosions. Who cares about stuff like that???

I think people are generally disappointed with the final book in a series. I personally think the first book was the best, but usually that is the case. I actually really liked Mockingjay because it showed the brutal consequences of war and want of power. It wasn't suger coated, and the ending wasn't wrapped up in neat little packages, trying to make everyone live happily ever after. I don't think that would have been possible for those characters after what they'd all been through. Anyway...there's my take on it :)

I rely on the cell phone for time, because I couldn't stand the tan line where I was still wearing the watch when I took it off...

I love that the book left her all broken and messed up at the end. At least that didn't turn out perfectly. But really? She chose peeta? lame.

This book felt like it was written by editors, not suzanne collins. TOo many war details. I read it, and I liked it, I was just kind of bored.

Oh, Erica, how do I possibly sum up my feelings about Mockingjay in a blog comment?

So, definitely disappointed. Although a few days after reading it I liked it more than I did right when I finished. I hated that Collins hit fast forward for the last couple chapters. I kept having to go back and figure out what was going on. Like where on earth is Gale? Oh, there he is mentioned in 1 sentence. That was incredibly lame. I get what Suzanne Collins was saying, the politics, the effects of war. In some ways I like that Katniss is scarred, physically, emotionally etc. by all that she's been through because you would be. I get why she ended up with Peeta - BUT I felt like I was waiting the whole book for Katniss to step up. To make a decision. Choose to lead, choose her man. She's just drugged, indecisive and annoying for most of the book. Even when she's kissing Gale it's so lame. And she never really chose Peeta, it just is all of the sudden them together. You never got to be part of the decision, falling in love, etc. That's what I like! ;) Definitely not enough of the love triangle for me. Although if she included that the book could have been a million pages long. Maybe she should have left out more of the fighting and put in more of the love story. I would have liked that much better :)

We had our book club on it last week and it was wonderful to get to air our grievances :) Except for one friend that loved it. It was really interesting to hear her opinions. Anyways, this comment is so long! Sorry!
