{Cheap Entertainment}

I know I posted about doing this fun and easy activity a while back (see post HERE) but I thought I'd do a post about it again in case you missed it.

A simple thing such as a glow in the dark stick in the water...who knew it could be so much fun?I keep a stash of this glow sticks around and they have come in handy so many times.

You can find them at the Dollar Store and sometimes in the $1 section at Target (I can only find these big thick ones at the Dollar store). I always grab a few whenever we make a visit to the Dollar store.In regards to cheap entertainment, what are some things your kids enjoy that are fun, easy and cheap?

My treasure chest - the place where I stash $1 toys, games and crafts for the girls - is at an all time low. Before I go out and replenish the stash I wanted to pick your brains for some ideas?

squinkies! They come in little clear plastic "gumballs". Teeny tiny babies, puppies, ponies, fairies, hearts, cheerleaders, etc etc etc. My mom bought a big package of them for us and I let the girls open one every 15-30 minutes the whole flight home. What is it about tiny stuff that is so appealing to kids? They LOVE them. Anyway, You can get them at target and they come out to about 50 cents each. They're about the size/texture of a shaped pencil top eraser.

We also keep silly bands, printed pencils (walgreens always has them for each holiday for 10 cents) fun printed socks, little note pads, stickers, ring pops, hair bows, nail decals etc.

I also like to stock up on treasure chest items at garage sales. People always have that $25 cent bin of mc donalds toys, stray polly pocket dolls and my little ponies. Just last week I added a strawberry shortcake doll and Quincy was SO excited.

Glow sticks in the bathtub - how did you come up with that one? SO fun!! I keep glowsticks around because they are fun no matter what but I would have never thought to throw them in the tub. You are the funnest :)

My kids love anything with water. I'll just let them play with the hose in the backyard, or fill up a couple swimming pools and let them put on Sea World shows for me :) They love it.

The greenie in me would recommend a less-disposable product. We bought the underwater disco light and as it's only £7.99 it's not much more than a few glow sticks. My son is 3 and thinks it's awesome and knows what button to push to make it do the different light shows.

FYI if you want to be green you don't need to spend $8 on a glow stick - you can freeze the $1 ones and they'll work again and again! :) Just sayin.
