Just before nap time she brought the subject up again, this time with a very in depth description of what her favorite treat was, indicating that her tummy would be so very happy if it had some of that treat inside.
How could I resist such a request with a description like that (not that you have to ever twist my arm to make thee delicious bis of heaven)??!
So I made a batch while she was sleeping. I placed them on the counter as a surprise when she woke up.

She was pleasantly surprised (getting over the fact that I made them without her quickly) and just had to have a couple right then and there.This treat is a favorite at our house. Bret enjoys it when I make them with lemon cake mix as well. I also like to add a little mint extract sometimes to the filling.
Try this out. Thank me later :).
::Homemade Oreo cookies::
1 package devil's food cake mix - I actually prefer using the German chocolate cake mix. I like to press the cookie slightly immediately after removing them from the oven!
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil (or butter flavored shortening)
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Roll dough into balls (a little larger than a quarter). Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool on sheet (until warm). Remove cookies from sheet and place on cooling rack.
To assemble the cookies, in a pastry bag with a 1/2 inch, round tip. If you don't have a pastry bag or don't want to use it you can always use a zip lock bag with a round tip or just use a butter knife, (I've used all three ways and they are all fine), pipe teaspoon-size blobs of filling into the center of one cookie (I like mine double stuffed so I put more than this). Place another cookie, equal in size to the first, on top of the filling. Lightly press, to work the filling evenly to the outsides of the cookie. Continue this process until all the cookies have been sandwiched with cream.
Dunk generously in a large glass of milk. Store in fridge (the filling has cream cheese and butter).
::Oreo cookie filling::
1 stick butter
1 block of cream cheese (8 ounces)
3-4 cups confectioner's sugar (depending on desired consistency)
1 tsp vanilla extract
*cream butter (about 2 mins). Add cream cheese and mix well. Add confectioner's sugar slowly until you reach your desired consistency. The thicker the better, but not too thick :).
**I realize the recipe has been posted on here before but just in case you missed the origional post a couple years back...**

7 people are bringing SEXY back:
yummy! Will there be any left? Just kidding. See you Soon!
those look really good.
i'm happy for you that you still have nappers in your house.
I want these this very moment. If we lived closer, you can bet I'd be showing up today just to visit :)
Ooh! I forgot about this one! Reese starts school in 2 weeks, and I've been trying to think of a fun treat for her school year kick off party. I'm going to "borrow" your "I can" theme. These cookies will be perfect! Yum!
I'm just in awe that your girls still nap...McKay only does when she crashes because she is absolutely worn out! Can you say envious?
I agree with Ella, my tummy would be so very happy to have some of those babies today. Might just have to run to the store. We love oreos here too!
I use this recipe from your site all of the time now. People LOVE it! Thanks for posting!
