{Come and gone}

We decided to take a last minute trip to Utah on Christmas Eve day to surprise my family. We had an enjoyable trip and the girls were in heaven.

I too wanted a nice little Christmas break so although I brought along my trusty (heavy) camera along few pictures were taken of the festivities...and I'm okay with that.

Eating way too much of everything that could be deemed edible everyone was pretty sure they each were carrying a food baby (name that movie). The girls helped chop the veggies for our delicious Christmas dinner, making me nervous with each cut they made.Time was spent gaming on the Wii, talking, board gaming and creating shell necklaces with Meme.Of course no trip to Utah in December would be complete with out a sledding excursion. This year I was pleasantly surprised that the girls stayed out much longer than the 30 minutes it took to get their snow gear on. I will have to remember however, that next year both girls need new snow boots. We managed to squeeze Mailee into her old 18-24 month boots, but requested she let us know if/when she couldn't feel her feet anymore...poor girl!The trip was wonderful. We even had the added bonus of spending some time with Bret's sister and her family on our way to Provo and back to California.

Another Christmas was celebrated and enjoyed with family and friends, making us again realize how blessed we are.

Now...if I could only muster some semblance of desire to take down Christmas decor that can be found in every room that would be good.

When do you take down your Christmas tree? Before or after New Year's?

p.s. anyone know of awesome after Christmas deals I must know about?

It starts when the adult children try to win the pickle present by being first to find the pickle on the Christmas tree...

Looks like you all had a great time! The girls look so cute in their snow stuff. :)

My mom leaves our tree up for as looong as possible. We also tend to put ours up later than others, so it works out.

I don't know much about clearance, but I spent $15 at Target on Christmas bulbs, snowflakes and hand towels for my "hope chest"--got some beautiful stuff and saved $14! Hurray!

Erica, I got my earrings, and they are SO adorable! Thanks so very much. :)

We took ours down on Sunday. I was so sick of it taking up half my living room. The decorations are still up but no tree.

We did the exact same thing and surprised my mother on Christmas Eve. It was such fun and the kids did wonderful. I, too, feel that I am carrying around a food baby. Enjoyed seeing the apron you purchased from me from your mom. I still love that fabric. Merry Christmas! Oh, and the decorations, they come down after New Years at our house. :)

when you have 9 month old twins forever trying to eat the christmas lights then the tree comes down early. We did it yesterday. Your Christmas looks lovely.

that looks like so much fun!! The girls want to go to the mountains to play in the snow now. I wonder if Idyllwild has snow? So yeah we are taking down decorations today, I'm so ready to loose the clutter!

So fun! I bet your family was absolutely thrilled. What a great Christmas surprise :) I love the girls in the snow, I don't think there's many things cuter than kids all bundled up in their snow gear.

I still need to take down our Christmas stuff. I know! We just got home, though, so I'll be doing it tomorrow... hopefully... ;)
