I don't know about you but multiple Christmas parties are coming up for me in the near future. Figuring out what to wear at these holiday celebrations is always fun to do, but can be a bit pricey. This year I'm trying to use the clothes I already have and adding great accessories instead of buying a new outfit. Given that I am expecting and am currently in the "No-I'm-not-getting-fat-I'm pregnant" stage where I know I'm pregnant but to others it just looks like I ate one too many rolls at Thanksgiving dinner I'm thinking going the accessories route makes more sense for me. And for you...well perhaps you could use the $ you would spend on an outfit for a Christmas party somewhere else and instead join me in concentrating on accessorizing.
A bold cocktail ring is something that can always dress up any outfit. This one from Stella & Dot has the perfect hues that would match pretty much any outfit. Try searching on Ebay and Etsy for vintage cocktail rings (adjustable bands are always nice so you don't have to worry about fit).Hair pins are another accessory that if used right add to an outfit. Adding a bit of sparkle or a pop of color to the ever popular braids this season is something I love to do. These twig hairpins are some of my current favorites.
Shoes play a huge part in making or breaking an outfit...at least for me. Although a bit pricey for an accessory they are worth investing in. These shoes in red or mint could be used with multiple outfits. Don't be afraid by the price...divide the price of the shoe by the number of times you would wear them and see if you'll get your money's worth. Then the price won't seem so bad. Sometimes you have to pay more for quality right?
Necklaces are an accessory I'm trying to find this season. The right necklace can instantly dress up an old outfit and make it fresh again. Some of my favorite places to find necklaces: Target, Kohls, Anthropologie, J.Crew, Banana Republic and Etsy.
A brown and black belt is a staple this season. Wear them over a longer boyfriend cardigan with jeans, with a high waisted skirt or to cinch and flatter your waistline. Just be sure to do some research on how your body type should wear a belt. I love love love my belts and use them all the time.
I know I said I was concentrating on accessorizing, however, if you're going to get a new Christmas dress this year I suggest keep it classic and simple. These two are my top two choices this year. Simple, flattering and classic. What are some of your favorite accessories? Where do you find your accessories?
The song for today is one of our favorites. It's one of the few songs the girls remember from last year. Enjoy.
p.s.can't wait to put up all the Christmas decorations today! When do you put your Christmas decor up?

9 people are bringing SEXY back:
i really enjoy reading your blog to find out what's in style-because i'm so not! we normally put up christmas decorations the day after thanksgiving, but this year we did it 2 days after...the recovery from thanksgiving(albeit grand)took a little longer:)as for accessories-i don't do them. it's a mental thing for me that would take forever and a day to explain...so i won't. happy monday erica & happy decorating!
Where are the dresses from?
Decorations are going up on the 12th December here. Although peeps around here already have the lights up outside.
love the black and white dress! where is it from?
We're decorating the tree the week before Christmas.
And right now my fave accessories are those square, big floral scarves with tassels.
I like the way they look with leather jackets.
Yea, where are those cute dresses from?
OMD!!! I WANT those shoes! So cute! I am thinking early Christmas gift! Love them!
Stella & Dot is one of my favorite places to look at accessories and sometimes buy. They always have such fun, trendy accessories. I love earrings, I always have. I'm starting to get into necklaces, they have so many fun ones now. I have to be careful though, because I can end up spending so much money, so fast!
Love those dresses.
We'll be getting our tree this Saturday and decorating it on Sunday while we watch the Christmas devotional. The advent calendar and a few other things are out... I'll probably get the other decorations up tomorrow...or the next day. I LOVE decorating for Christmas, who doesn't love twinkle lights? :)
I have the top necklace in jade/grey from anthro and it is AMAZING on. Everytime I wear it, I get tons of compliments. GET IT!
