That's right folks, a month-long celebration of actual facial hair.I look forward to this time of year as I am a fan of seeing Bret sporting a bit of facial hair. Once a year for a couple of months he let's the facial hair grow...just for me...now that is love!
He got a late start this year but after a few days he's got a great start in what the charts call a manly Circle Beard (and here I was calling it a goatee...silly me).
(Without any encouragement each picture frame produced new facial expressions from Bret, cause he's cool like that. The fourth one I believe he was thinking loving thoughts about facial hair.)At the end of the growing period when it's time to shave, Bret enjoys slowly removing his beloved facial, making sure to have me document it along the way. Observe the retiring of the Circular Beard 2007:
An occasional period of facial hair on Bret is good enough for me. It's always a surprise to me to see him without any facial hair....totally turns him into a 14 year old boy! :)How do you prefer to see a guy? With or without. Full beard or some stubble?
Here's to manly-men, facial hair (only on men) and National Beard Growing month!*For tips on how to grow a beard click {HERE}. Not sure if they wanted this to be humorous but I for one, found it to be.
*yes I just did a whole post on facial hair...perhaps that will be my second book - after my Mullet book is published...

20 people are bringing SEXY back:
My husband always had a beard until he became a Deputy Sheriff. Now he needs to be clean shaven. Sometimes I miss it, but mostly not... :-\
Does he change character as well? More gruff? goes out and chops wood?
The hat when shaving it off is an added bonus!
My husband always looks a little creepy with facial hair--plus my kids hate it becuase it's so scratchy. In those pics from 2007 your husband looks like a completely different person in each one. Facial hair is funny like that.
Hah! I love the Imperial!
Such a fan of a little scruff. It's worth the painful kissing.
I prefer my man clean shaven. Plus, if he were to try and grow facial hair, it would look kind of goofy because he has parts of his face where the hair doesn't grown in very good :)
Hahahaha this is seriously cracking me up!!! But I do LOVE stubble on guys- so manly ;) !! Happy November lol!!! xo!
your hubby looks cuter to me with just a little scruff like in the last pic...my hubby grows this gigantor beard every winter for duck season. during the year he always has a groomed beard with mustache and then here comes winter and he lets it grow and his hair and he looks like a wooly mammoth and i can't stand it! haha i still love him to pieces though...i just don't take any pictures with him! haha
I like a little scruff and clean shaven on Quinn. If he shaves and leaves a mustache then it gets a little creepy! Can we say chester the molester?
I love facial hair on my man. There's something about it that makes him more rough...I like it...too much info?...maybe
i am so with you--I love when my husband has a "circle beard" Its so dang attractive.
I like a little stubble on my hubby. Not a full on beard, but a little stubble.
this post made me laugh, especially your "(only on men)" comment. I've known a girl or two to rival any man in the facial dept. How about my 7th grade librarian for starters. :)
Thats hillarious I love that being a tradition for you guys thats awesome! You crack me up
Is there really such a thing as National Beard Growth Month?? That just cracks me up. Umm...not a big fan of facial hair I must say. I like a nice clean shaven man myself. But Steve seems to think a little facial hair makes him look more distinguished or something like that. Just NO to mustaches thank you!
I absolutely love it when Doug grows a goatee. Like Bret, he can only grow it for a couple months out of the year, but when he does, ooh la la! And I'm always sad to see it go. Love it!
Your post made me laugh! I just have to say that I do like stubble, however, my hubby's hair grows so fast that it's only stubble for a VERY SHORT TIME! Let's just say, he had to shave THREE TIMES on our wedding day! I'M SERIOUS!!!! :) But, I do love the stubble!!!
I usually prefer no facial hair. Good thing because Scandinavian Ryan's beard takes a long time to grow.
As long as he doesn't get all garibaldi!
I like clean shaven on Nater. I don't like my chin to get all scratched up.
I love that you just did a whole post on facial hair :) And seriously, a whole month devoted to the celebration of growing facial hair? Who knew? I have to say, some serious scruff is seriously hot. Christian hates shaving so he's scruffy fairly often and I love it, but not so much the "scruff burn" that I get. I like kissing a clean shaven face much better, but that scruff is just so dang hot ;) Once it gets even close to being able to be called a beard, I am out. Ew, ew, ew. And mustaches are even worse!
PS - can I tell you how hard I was laughing at Ella and her smooching? :)
I can't beleive i have been blog stalking you for over a year, i distinctly remember last years beard growing month. Well, since I will probably be the only single gal who comments, thus i can't say, "well my husband always blar blar blar.." but on the flip side, i get to comment on many mens facial hair...woo hoo. I will say, I love a full beard on most men, especially if it has some red in it. Currently my two law school crushes both have full beards(not ZZ top mind you, but just what a sexy late 20's, outdoorsy guy should have (what can I say I am predictable). and I could not be happier when I talk to/look at them, they look great. The handle bar mustache man, i went on a few dates recently groomed his stache, and I gotta say, I miss the handle bar. My alaska guy had a beard, and I called him my grizzly adams, i don't think he really minded much. Anyways, point is, love the beared man, and I am glad on this subject you and I see eye to eye. PS...good job on reaccuring themes. Gotta love a tradition.
ha! Erica i guess we must be in tune....haha. Too bad at BYU this National Beard Growth month thing doesn't exist.
